Who Doesn’t Love a Birth Story?!*

So here’s something to bring joy to some of you and to scare others of you away for a few days. I’ve decided to write out my birth stories and post them here. We’ll get started on that tomorrow. For today, some stats:

All three of my births have been very different.

* All three births took place in a hospital.
* None of my births were overseen by my primary OB.
* Two of my births were natural, one was with an epidural.
* Two of my births involved doulas.
* One doula had my water break all over her.
* That was the only time my water broke naturally.
* My combined laboring time for all three births was 34 hours.
* Two-thirds of that laboring time was for my first child.
* Each of my births took place in a different state.
* None of my births were overly dramatic with the exception of the fact they produced living, breathing, actual human beings.
* Each birth was exactly as it was supposed to be.

* Kelley doesn’t. Sorry, Kelley.

  1. I love you. You crack me up.

It’s not that I hate birth stories. I just hate the hero mentality of some. I know you aren’t like that, so I will read and sarcastically comment. I mean sit in awe at your awesomenes….

    *snort*

  2. Love it! I’ve been meaning to write my twin birth story since I started my blog. There was just too much comedy not to. I love telling my first birth story as well – but the second one was pretty colorful.

I think everyone that has given birth is automatically programmed to feel compelled to recount the story as often as possible and in as much detail as the listener is willing to take. I often say that if you ask me about my wedding, I’ll provide a brief overview of beautiful weather, venue and flowers. But ask me about my birth stories? Pull up a chair and make yourself comfortable!

  3. It was rather interesting for me to read the blog. Thank author for it. I like such themes and everything that is connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more on that blog soon.
