Please Hang Out With Me at BlogHer!

This is that part of the year when bloggers going to BlogHer are all excited and chatty about their upcoming plans and those of you who are not bloggers or who are bloggers not going to BlogHer are either bored out of their minds or jealous beyond words because of all the hullabaloo about the event.

To the latter, I apologize.

To the former, I have some stuff to tell you.

(1) First of all, if you are going to BlogHer, please come say hi to me. I would love to meet you. I can be a little socially awkward, but as long as you don't come up to me and snort, I'll probably be friendly. If you do come up to me and snort, I'll...well, I'll probably laugh. Don't do it though.

(2) Sarah, Goon Squad Sarah (as I always think of her—like "Bond, James Bond" only cooler and prettier) is helping me produce some awesome Stimeyland swag through her new job. It is quite possibly my best swag yet. If you don't want to come up and talk to me because of my sparkly personality, come up to me and demand my swag.

I'll not tell you yet what it is, but suffice it to say that I asked Sarah if her company had something awesome, like a rat-shaped squeeze ball and she was all, "Why, yes, we have exactly that. Here is the link." And that item ended up in the reject pile. If you want personal or blog promotional items, email her. Immediately.

(3) I am speaking on the Blogging Autism panel. I have a ton to say about finding community through blogging and figuring out how to balance the positive/advocacy part of what I do with the real/difficult/snorting part of life. I plan to say some very deep, meaningful things and probably some totally idiotic things. Forgive me. I think I've mentioned that I'm ridiculous. Also, I'll probably cry.

The moderator for the panel is Shannon/Squid (AWESOME!) and my co-panelists are Shark-Fu and Sharon da Vanport (also AWESOME!). I'm really looking forward to it! Also, you don't have to have autism in your life to come. This will be a great panel for anyone interested in what it's like to have a family member with autism or to be autistic yourself.

(4) Immediately after the Blogging Autism panel there is a lunch break. Ellen from Love That Max has organized a Birds of a Feather lunch for special needs bloggers. Check out this post on her blog to find out how to sign up. If it fills up, we'll stage a sit in near the table so we can all be together. I haven't run that last part past Ellen, but I bet she'll be cool with it. Maybe.

(5) BlogHer can be a whirlwind. There is so much to do and so many panels and events to attend, but for me, the biggest draw is the group of people that will be there. I want to have some quality time with you. Find me that weekend and tell me you want to hang and we'll make it happen!
