Your gift-giving tips are funny for so many reasons. [We were definitely the crafts and books family. Also I liked Barbies, but understand why many parents do not.]
Without getting too sentimental, our small town’s fire dept. drove Santa around to deliver a gift to each child before Christmas. Santa knew just what to bring. Must have taken a lot of planning and coordination.
Now, we mostly exchange consumable gifts like food and music. I did ask for a car, but Santa opted out. Sometimes if you sneak that in the middle of the list, they buy it without thinking. :) I also like the alternative gifts markets that benefit charities.
