Last of the OG Pets

My family had a big first wave of pets. Izzy, Cassidy, a couple of other beloved animals you probably haven’t heard about (remind me to tell you about Desdemona and Mango sometime)—they were our OG.

Today we lost the last of our original gangsters.

Photo of a super awesome tabby cat.

Thug life.

Denali had a really big tumor. She’d been hanging in for a while, but it was clear that she was going downhill fast and was in pain. We said goodbye to Denali this afternoon. She was a really good cat. We loved her a lot and we’re going to miss her.

  1. She was so beautiful! And so insane! (I read the other post, too). I’m so sorry that she didn’t recover from the cancer like you hoped. Your love for her shines through in everything you’ve written. I hope her goodbye was a peaceful one. *hugs*

  2. I’m so sorry…we had to put down our almost-14-year-old dog in March, and I still miss him, even though we got a puppy this summer. Let yourself grieve, but enjoy your kitties too. Hugs to you.

  3. I’m so sorry. Losing a much loved pet is just awful. I found myself in the dog food aisle in the supermarket the other day, absentmindedly searching for treats for our beloved hound and it’s been almost four months since we lost her.
I’m sure the kittens will help fill the void, but nothing completely compensates for the loss, I know.

  4. Oh Jean, huge hugs to you. We must have gotten all our OGs about the same time as we are going through a similar scenario here, so I know the pain you feel. I know you know in your heart that you gave all of them the most fantastic life possible (really, who wouldn’t want to be a Stimey pet?) and yet that doesn’t take the pain away. When I hurt, I try to go back and look at the photos and remember the funny moments and I’m sure you have tons and tons of wonderful photos (and memories). You are a fantastic furry baby mama. I am so sorry you have had another loss.
